Freshers' Day — where new wings begin to rise
✦ 1 August 2026 · Aviation Campus, MangaluruUdgham means rise — and on the evening of 1 August 2026, that was exactly what the Institute of Aviation Studies set out to celebrate. Freshers from BBA Aviation Management and BBA Aviation & Logistics Management stepped into a hall glowing violet and gold, welcomed by their seniors into a night built on cultural performances, spirited games, and the kind of warmth that turns classmates into a cohort.
A Grand Welcome
The evening opened beneath an arch of violet and silver balloons, the Institute's banner catching the stage lights as hosts took the mic to set the tone for the night. Faculty, coordinators, and the freshers' own seniors gathered on stage to formally open Udgham 2026 — a celebration designed, quite deliberately, to feel like more than just a welcome.
Blessings to Begin the Journey
Every good beginning carries the blessings of those who've walked the path before. The celebration was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Pavithra Kumari, Dean of the Institute of Aviation Studies, alongside the SWO, HODs, cultural coordinators, faculty members, and the Institute's Student Council — each lending their support to make the evening a success. A simple exchange of flowers on stage carried the evening's real message: you are welcome here.
Lights, Music & 45 Moments of Talent
Under a wash of red and violet stage light, the cultural lineup took over — 45 performances in all, ranging from song to dance, each one a small act of courage from students finding their footing on a new stage. As the night wore on, the spotlight turned fully to the freshers themselves, who sang, danced, and threw themselves into games organised to break the ice and build the togetherness a first-year batch needs most.
Celebrating the Spirit
Between performances, the stage made room for something equally important — recognising the energy, effort, and good sportsmanship of the students taking part. Small prizes and big cheers went hand in hand, keeping the evening light-hearted even as it built toward its close.
The enthusiasm and creativity shown by the freshers said it all — they were ready to belong to the aviation community.

Udgham 2026 closed the way it opened — full of noise, colour, and warmth. For a batch that walked in as strangers just weeks earlier, the night left behind cherished memories and, more importantly, a sense of belonging that will carry them through the academic year ahead. The celebration stands as a testament to what the Institute of Aviation Studies does best: not just teaching students to fly, but making sure they never feel like they're doing it alone.
