Srinivas University's Institute of Aviation Studies brought aviation education to life with a hands-on Airport Model Making and Presentation Session, giving first-year MBA Aviation Management students a practical edge in understanding real-world airport operations.
On 21st February 2026, the Institute of Aviation Studies at Srinivas University organized an engaging Airport Model Making and Presentation Session for First Year MBA Aviation Management students. Held as part of the Introduction to Aviation Management course, this experiential learning activity was designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and practical airport management concepts.
Students Design Real-World Airport Layouts
Students rolled up their sleeves to design comprehensive airport layout models that mirrored the complexity of real-world aviation infrastructure. Their models featured both landside and airside components, including runways, taxiways, aprons, terminal buildings, Air Traffic Control (ATC) towers, parking areas, and passenger facilities.
During their presentations, students went beyond just showcasing their models. They walked through critical operational aspects such as aircraft movement areas, passenger flow systems, security arrangements, baggage handling, and ground operations — demonstrating a solid grasp of how airports function as interconnected, high-coordination environments.
Innovation at the Forefront
What stood out was the creativity and forward-thinking approach that students brought to the activity. Many incorporated smart airport features, sustainable practices, and efficient traffic management systems into their designs — reflecting an awareness of where the aviation industry is headed. The session proved to be more than just an academic exercise; it helped students develop and sharpen essential professional skills including teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
Guided by Experienced Faculty
The session was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. Pavithra Kumari, Dean, Institute of Aviation Studies; Mr. Roshin K Sibi, Head of the Department; and Ms. Maithri, MBA Coordinator, along with the dedicated faculty members and staff of the institute. Their mentorship ensured that students received meaningful academic direction throughout the activity.
