Why this session mattered
A guest lecture on "Empowering Cyber Security in the Modern World" was organised by the Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, in association with Bhagini Samaj — affiliated to the All India Women's Conference (AIWC), New Delhi — on 10th September 2026 at the Aviation Campus, Srinivas University. The session was held under the banner of the AIWC's Centenary Programme and its Youth Wing initiative.
The objective was simple and pressing: to build awareness among students about the growing importance of cyber security and responsible digital practice in a modern digital era where almost every part of student life now runs online.
A warm welcome
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the gathering, followed by the floral welcome of the dignitaries on the dais. The occasion brought together leadership from the Institute and from AIWC's Mangaluru chapter on a single stage — a quiet marker of how far collaboration between the two organisations has come.

Setting the context
The purpose of the day was delivered by Smt. Kripa Shetty, Vice President, AIWC, New Delhi. She spoke on the relevance of cyber security awareness in the present digital environment, framing why a room full of aviation students — soon to carry sensitive data, systems, and passenger trust — needed to hear what was coming next.
The key session: decoding cyber security
The key session of the programme was delivered by Mr. Harish Neermarga, Founder and Managing Director of Accolade Tech Solutions Private Limited. Speaking to a hall of aviation students, he addressed the many facets of staying safe online — moving well beyond warnings into practical, usable habits.
Identify Online Threats
Recognising phishing, scams, and the early warning signs before they cause harm.
Protect Personal Information
Keeping personal and financial data secure across apps, devices, and platforms.
Build Secure Digital Habits
Password hygiene, safe browsing, and mindful sharing, practised every single day.
Respond Responsibly
Knowing the right steps — and the right people — to turn to when something goes wrong.
The session gave students a working vocabulary for online safety and left them with awareness they could act on immediately — not just facts to remember, but habits to start practising the same day.
Who was in the room
The session drew students of the Final Year BBA Aviation Management programme, together with First Year students of BBA Aviation Management and BBA Aviation & Logistics Management — a full hall of the Institute's next generation of aviation professionals, for whom data discipline will matter as much on the ground as it does online.
A new voice for the youth wing
Among the afternoon's highlights was the selection of Ms. Pratheeksha S. Shetty, Assistant Professor, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, as a representative of the AIWC Youth Wing — an opportunity for her to actively take part in the youth-oriented initiatives the organisation runs going forward.
Gratitude & closing
Mementos were exchanged with the guests as the programme drew towards its close with the Vote of Thanks.
Cyber security begins with awareness and grows through responsible action — the students left with a clear ask: stay alert, stay informed, and help build a safer digital world.
The event was successfully conducted under the support and guidance of Dr. Pavithra Kumari, Dean, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, along with —
