Sharada Pooja 2026
A celebration of devotion, light and learning, offered at the feet of the Goddess of Knowledge.

On 19 October 2026, the Aviation Campus at Hampankatta, Mangaluru, became a sanctum of lamps, flowers and folded hands as the Institute of Aviation Studies (IAS), Srinivas University, celebrated Sharada Pooja. The occasion was organised with devotion and enthusiasm to seek the blessings of Goddess Sharada, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom and learning.
For an institute that prepares young people for careers in the skies, a day devoted to the goddess of learning carries a quiet meaning: every journey begins with knowledge, and every flight begins with a blessing.

Aarti & Sacred Offerings

At the heart of the day were the traditional rituals. Dressed in traditional attire, the pooja was performed with devotion: flowers and fruits laid before the goddess, a flame waved in aarti, and a tall brass lamp glowing beside the sanctum.
Students and staff stood around with folded hands as the worship progressed, joining their voices and thoughts to a single prayer. For a few unhurried minutes, a college hall became a place of stillness and gratitude.
The Divine Sanctum
The idol of Goddess Sharada was adorned with garlands of white blossoms, golden marigolds and fresh green leaves, resting on a simple wooden seat framed with strands of yellow flowers. Textbooks and a framed picture were placed close by, a gentle reminder that it is learning itself being honoured.

Knowledge bestows humility. A fitting thought for an institute that prepares young people for careers of great responsibility.
Voices in Devotion

Students and faculty members of the Institute presented devotional bhajans, filling the campus with a spiritual atmosphere and adding a cultural touch to the occasion.
Saffron stoles sat beside silk sarees, young voices beside experienced ones, and each carried the same prayer. Songs of devotion rose through the hall and turned a college celebration into something deeply shared.

Prayers for Every Learner

The programme gave students and staff a chance to come together in an auspicious celebration, reflecting the Institute's respect for Indian culture and spiritual traditions.
Prayers were offered for the knowledge, success and prosperity of students and staff alike. In those folded hands was the hope that every classroom, every examination and every runway ahead would begin with the goddess's grace.
