Safety First, Service Always: the professional role of cabin crew in modern aviation
The Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, organised a guest lecture on “Safety First, Service Always: The Professional Role of Cabin Crew in Modern Aviation” on 12th August 2026 at 11:30 AM, for second- and third-year BBA Aviation Management students.
The session was delivered by Mr. Vaishak Subramanian, Senior Cabin Crew at Air India, who shared valuable insights into the professional responsibilities and evolving role of cabin crew in the modern aviation industry — grounding classroom theory in the realities of the cabin.
From the flight deck of experience
Building on that idea, Mr. Subramanian walked students through the aspects of the profession that rarely make it into a boarding announcement: aviation safety procedures, passenger service excellence, effective communication, teamwork, situational awareness, emergency preparedness, professionalism, and adaptability in dynamic operational environments.
The interactive session gave students practical industry exposure and a deeper understanding of the critical role cabin crew play in keeping airline operations safe and efficient. Students actively took part in the discussion, coming away with career-oriented insights they won't find in a textbook.
