Rural Sports Day 2026
"A Day in the Mud" — Reviving Tradition, Rekindling Spirit
Where Books Paused and Roots Took Over
On 4th July 2026, the manicured campus routine gave way to open paddy fields, grey monsoon skies, and knee-deep mud — as the Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, hosted its much-awaited Rural Sports Day, ಕೆಸರ್ಡೊಂಜಿ ದಿನ, at Belthangady.
Organized as a unique outreach programme for students of BBA Aviation Management, BBA Aviation and Logistics Management, and MBA Aviation Management, the event was jointly conducted by the Sports Forum, Cultural Forum, and Industrial Visit Forum. Far from the runways and simulators of everyday aviation studies, this was a day dedicated to rediscovering the soil — its games, its grit, and its joy.
Petals, Prayers, and the First Step into the Mud
The programme opened with the traditional Bhumi Namaskara, a gesture of gratitude and reverence to Mother Earth — grounding the day's festivities in humility before the games began. Students then stepped into the muddy sports field scattering flower petals underfoot, turning a simple walk onto the field into a small ceremony of its own, and instantly setting a vibrant, festive mood for everything that followed.
Games That Tested Grit, Balance & Team Spirit
A total of 155 students plunged into a lineup of traditional rural games and competitions — every one of them made twice as fun (and twice as tricky) by the slick, ankle-deep mud underfoot.
- 100m Relay Race
- Gunny Bag Race
- Lemon & Spoon Race
- Three-Legged Race
- Turn-Around Race
- Treasure Hunt
- Tug of War — Boys & Girls
Every event was met with enthusiastic participation and sharp teamwork. Students showed off real determination, coordination, balance, speed, and endurance — with the muddy terrain adding a layer of unpredictable, laugh-out-loud challenge to each activity, and pushing everyone to enjoy the games well beyond the spirit of plain competition.
Food, Culture, and Everything In Between
Between events, students dug into traditional food, soaked up cultural performances, and joined interactive activities that kept the energy lively right through the day. It was this mix of sport, food, and culture that made the outing feel less like an event and more like a shared memory in the making.
Mud on Their Feet, Pride on Their Faces
The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony where winners were felicitated with prizes, and every participant was recognized for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Muddy, tired, and beaming — the teams gathered one last time to celebrate the day together.
"Rural Sports Day concluded on a high note, leaving participants with cherished memories and inspiring them to preserve and promote India's rural sporting traditions for future generations."
