Institute of Aviation Studies · Srinivas University
The Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, rolled out a warm and ceremonious welcome for its newly admitted students on 9 July 2026, as the Orientation Programme 2026 got underway at Vaikunta Hall, Hotel Srinivas, Mangaluru.
The morning opened with a prayer, setting a note of gratitude and purpose before Dr. Pavithra Kumari, Dean of the Institute, delivered the welcome address. Mrs. Maithri, Head of the Department, followed with an introduction to the Institute's aviation programmes, giving the new batch their first real look at the journey ahead. Dignitaries were welcomed with saplings — a gesture that has become a signature of the Institute's events — before the ceremonial lamp was lit to formally inaugurate the proceedings.
Boarding & Welcome
A Warm Welcome to the Runway
As is tradition at the Institute, every dignitary on the dais was greeted with a sapling before taking their seat — a small, living reminder that this university has grown for 38 years the way any good sapling does: with patience, roots, and room to reach upward. Chief guests, trustees, and faculty leaders were welcomed one after another, setting a graceful tone before the formal addresses began.
Addresses From the Dais
Charting the Course Ahead
Presiding over the programme, Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Honourable Chancellor of Srinivas University and President of the A. Shama Rao Foundation, spoke about the rapid growth of the aviation industry and the rising demand for skilled talent within it. He urged the students to look beyond academic excellence alone, and to invest equally in personality development and employability — the two things, he noted, that turn a qualified graduate into a genuinely hireable one.
Smt. Vijayalakshmi R. Rao, Trustee, Board of Governors, welcomed the students into the Srinivas University family and encouraged them to make full use of everything the university offers in pursuit of their dreams. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Registrar (Development), added his congratulations on their choice of university and career path, pointing to the industry's growing employment opportunities and urging students to use their coming years to learn, explore, and grow into capable professionals.
The Oath
A Promise, Spoken Together
Prof. Er. Smt. A. Mitra S. Rao, Trustee, Board of Governors, administered the oath to the new students. In her address, she fondly remembered the vision of Founder Chancellor Dr. CA. A. Raghavendra Rao — noting that although he is no longer physically present, his ideals continue to inspire every student and faculty member of the university. She asked the students to remain disciplined, to respect their teachers, to stay closely in touch with their parents, and to make full use of everything the university offers. Ms. A. Meghana S. Rao then motivated the gathering to pursue aviation with passion, dedication, and discipline.
In Remembrance
The Vision That Still Guides Us
Before the formal addresses began, dignitaries paused before a garlanded portrait of Founder Chancellor Dr. CA. A. Raghavendra Rao — a quiet moment of gratitude for the vision that built Srinivas University into what it is today. Though he is no longer physically present, his ideals were invoked throughout the morning as a compass for every student stepping onto this campus for the first time.

Hands Raised, Together
With right hands raised in unison, the newly admitted batch took their oath as one voice filled Vaikunta Hall — a fitting image for a class about to learn, quite literally, how to take flight.
Beyond the Dais
Senior students shared their experiences with the incoming batch, newly admitted students spoke about their expectations of college life, and parents offered valuable feedback of their own. Ms. Varshitha, HOD, BBA Aviation Management, proposed the vote of thanks, and the programme drew to a close with the National Anthem — sending the Institute's newest students off on the first leg of their aviation journey.
The programme was organized under the guidance and support of the Dean, Student Welfare Officer, HODs, Event Coordinators, Faculty Members, Student Volunteers, and the entire staff of the Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University.
