Srinivas University Institute of Aviation Studies Conducts Guest Lecture on POSH Act Awareness at Aviation Campus

The Institute of Aviation Studies at Srinivas University successfully organized a guest lecture titled POSH Act – Know Your Rights as part of Sexual Harassment Prevention Week. The awareness programme was held on December 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Aviation Campus, Hampankatta, with the objective of educating students on workplace safety, dignity, and respectful conduct in both academic and professional environments.

The programme witnessed active participation from students enrolled in BBA Aviation Management, Aviation and Logistics Management, and MBA Aviation Management programmes. The session aimed to create awareness about the legal provisions of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and to promote a culture of respect, safety, and accountability within educational institutions.

The successful organization of the event was made possible through the constant support and guidance of Dr. Pavithra Kumari, Dean of the Institute of Aviation Studies; Mr. Roshin K. Sibi, Head of the Department; and Ms. Hruthika, NSS Coordinator, along with the cooperation and coordination of faculty members and staff of the institute.

The guest lecture was delivered by the distinguished resource person Dr. Devi Prabha Alva, Associate Professor of Commerce, St. Agnes College (Autonomous). During the session, she provided valuable insights into the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, explaining its legal framework, scope, and significance through practical examples and interactive discussions. She elaborated on what constitutes sexual harassment, the importance of maintaining a safe and dignified environment, and the formal procedures available for reporting grievances.

Students actively engaged throughout the session by raising questions and sharing their perspectives, making the programme both informative and impactful. The interactive nature of the lecture helped participants gain a clearer understanding of their rights and responsibilities under the POSH Act.

The programme concluded with a strong emphasis on the Institute of Aviation Studies’ commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus culture. The initiative reinforced the university’s dedication to promoting ethical conduct, legal awareness, and a supportive learning environment for all students.
