Srinivas University’s Institute of Aviation Studies successfully organized a week-long industrial visit to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility at Mangaluru International Airport from 8th to 13th October 2025. This immersive training program was exclusively designed for final-year students of BBA Aviation Management and BBA Aviation, Travel & Tourism Management, providing them with real-world exposure to the critical operations that keep the skies safe.
The program was held under the leadership of Dr. Pavithra Kumari, Dean, Institute of Aviation Studies; Ms. Anjana T.V., Head of the Department; and Ms. Deepa K. Shetty, Industrial Visit Coordinator.
🌐 Bridging Classroom Knowledge with Real-World Aviation Operations
Students experienced hands-on learning sessions on Air Traffic Control, Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) systems. These sessions were led by seasoned industry experts, offering students a rare glimpse into the high-pressure, high-precision world of air traffic management.
- Mr. Mohith, Assistant Manager (ATC), delivered an engaging session on Air Traffic Services and Management, covering critical topics such as aircraft separation techniques, communication protocols, runway markings, emergency handling, and the future of ATC technology.
- Mrs. Jyothi, Manager (ADM), emphasized the pivotal role of air traffic controllers as the “eyes of the pilot”, highlighting their responsibility in ensuring seamless coordination and flight safety.
- Mr. Anil Kumar M.R., Deputy General Manager (CNS), offered an in-depth presentation on CNS infrastructure, radar operations, ADS-B technology, and live aircraft tracking systems—culminating in an exclusive live demonstration.
🛰️ Inside the Nerve Centre of Air Traffic Operations
During the visit, students toured several critical operational zones, including the radar room, anti-hijacking control room, automation room, and the Area Control Centre. They witnessed real-time arrival and departure operations, gaining first-hand insights into monitoring, coordination, and control procedures that ensure the safety and efficiency of air traffic.

This industrial visit served as a powerful bridge between academic learning and practical industry experience, deepening students’ understanding of modern air traffic management systems and technological advancements in aviation.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks and presentation of tokens of appreciation to the esteemed resource persons for their invaluable time, insights, and mentorship.
